Very personable staff. Latest technology equipment. Feel like I get a very good exam without any pressure to purchase eyewear.
At Catawba Eye Care, we offer comprehensive exams that will uncover hidden, symptomless, potentially sight-threatening eye disorders and diseases that are not found by a simple vision screening. We start with questions regarding your daily life and any symptoms you may be experiencing at home or at work. We also take record of your vision, medications, and overall health. Then our optometrists perform a visual exam to take a look at your eye and eyelids. This is done with magnification and light, and may require dilating of the pupils. We are able to offer patients our “no eye drop” retinal image which can replace dilation most of the time. We also record your eye pressure with tonometry (not the air puff), which is an important test to identify patients at risk of developing glaucoma. After these tests, we review the results and discuss treatment options or corrective lens choices. We look forward to serving you and your family and making your experience with us pleasant and informative.
We make it convenient to have your prescription filled in our on-site Optical Boutique with a large selection of frames for men, women, and children. Our trained staff can help you choose eyewear that will compliment your facial shape and meet your lifestyle needs.Other benefits of our Optical include:
The field of optometry changes quickly, and now many more patients are able to enjoy the flexibility of wearing contact lenses to correct their vision. Contact lens exams include tests that are not always performed in regular eye exams, so if you are considering contact lenses, be sure to let us know when you schedule your exam. This allows us to schedule the extra time required for contact lens fitting or prescription updates.
Our optometrist will be sure to choose a contact lens that best suits your prescription and lifestyle while maintaining a proper contact lens fit to your eye shape in order to continue to have good eye health.
We offer the following contact lenses:
Our contact lens exams include questions about your lifestyle and the various options available to you. There are a variety of contact lenses on the market that can be changed at different frequencies: daily, weekly, monthly. Rigid gas permeable (RGP or GP) contact lenses are an option that often provide sharper vision than traditional soft lenses. Bifocal contact lenses are an option to correct vision issues that develop with age (presbyopia). So is monovision, which is a special technique where one eye corrects for distance vision and the other eye corrects for near vision. Some contacts even allow you to change eye color.
Please contact us directly with any questions, comments, or scheduling inquiries you may have.
We accept most insurance including: VSP, Eye Med and Davis, United Health Care/Spectera, Medical Mutual, Medicare (call to check others)
We're available to assist you scheduling your appointment by e-mail requests after-hours, include a date and time preference if needed.
