Comprehensive Exams
At Catawba Eye Care, we provide thorough eye examinations designed to detect hidden, symptom-free, and potentially vision-threatening conditions that basic vision screenings often miss. Your exam begins with a discussion about your lifestyle, medical history, current medications, and any symptoms you may be experiencing. Our optometrists then conduct a detailed visual inspection of your eyes and eyelids using magnification and light. When necessary, we may dilate your pupils to get a better view of your retina. However, we also offer an advanced, “no-eye-drop” retinal imaging option, which can serve as a comfortable alternative to dilation. We also measure your intraocular pressure using a gentle tonometry method (not the traditional air puff), a key test in identifying glaucoma risk. Once the exam is complete, we review your results, answer any questions, and discuss personalized treatment plans or corrective lens options. We’re committed to making your visit informative, efficient, and pleasant.

Our on-site Optical Boutique makes it easy to fill your prescription without leaving the office. We offer a wide variety of stylish frames for men, women, and children, and our knowledgeable team will help you select eyewear that complements your face shape, lifestyle, and visual needs.

Contact Lens Fitting
With continuous advancements in optometry, more patients than ever can enjoy the freedom of wearing contact lenses. If you’re interested in contacts, let us know when booking your appointment so we can allocate the extra time needed for proper fitting and evaluation. Contact lens exams involve specialized tests not included in standard eye exams. Our optometrists will assess your eye shape and vision needs to recommend the best lens type for comfort, clarity, and long-term eye health.
We offer a full range of lens types, including:
- Daily, weekly, monthly, and extended wear soft lenses
- Rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses
- Toric lenses for astigmatism
- Bifocal and multifocal lenses
- Custom lenses for unique vision needs
- Specialty lenses for keratoconus and pediatric patients
